Blackmagic output revisited

I’ve already written a few times about the problems with Blackmagic export to DV, and after even more exploration I must say, that it is even more broken, than I previously thought. It turns out that the DV footage is also weirdly deinterlaced on export, there is huge resolution loss, even if I just put a simple BMD avi file on the timeline, and try to export to DV Pal. Both on PC and on Mac.

The solution is—again—to export your timeline to BMD uncompressed, then create a default DV Pal sequence, and export your BMD file from there. I don’t know the reason for this weird behaviour, but it certainly is a time waster.

As a side note, I’ve been experiencing weird behaviour with XDCAM EX footage and BMD sequences on my Mac Pro, but I’m working on it with Blackmagic support, and we’ll see how it develops. Certainly these people are nice and friendly, and I wish them all the best with their products.
